Andy and Carrie began their journey in life together with a shared joy of gathering with loved ones over a good bottle of wine and some delicious food. In 2012, they were the first couple to get married at Vivac Winery in New Mexico, home of some of the most distinctive grape wines made in the Southwest.
Fifteen years ago, Andy started to experiment with making his own wine, with a particular interest and focus on creating wines that were truly unique. A chemist by education and profession, Andy readily took to the procedures and processes (and of course the glassware!) involved in winemaking.
Andy started off making wine in the pantry of the apartment Carrie and he shared in 2010. His initial batches used concentrate grape juice kits and, while he made some decent wines after some initial flops, Andy and Carrie quickly realized that making grape-based wines at home would never surpass commercial wines and they turned his sights toward something less common: wines made from other fruits. After more than a decade of experimentation with different fruit sources and fermentation procedures, Andy was able to develop recipes for deep, rich full bodied table wines as well as truly unique port-style dessert wines made from a variety of fruits.
